Sailing Continues Fine Season With Sixth Place Performance At Nickerson Trophy

BOURNE, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime sailing team continued its fine season with a solid sixth place finish among 15 teams competing in the Nickerson Trophy on Great Herring Pond over the weekend.

The duo of freshmen Anders Straume (Boston, Mass.) and Kaitlyn Nanartovich (Newport, R.I.) finished fourth in the A Division with a score of 83 points, while the tandem of freshmen R.J. Graef (Zionsville, Ind.) and Mikayla Martin (Warwick, R.I.) placed eighth in the B Division with a score of 111 points, giving the Buccaneers a total team score of 194 points for the competition.

Brown took top honors in the final team standings with a score of 123 points, followed by Connecticut College (162) and Boston College (175).

Massachusetts Maritime will compete at the prestigious John F. Kennedy Cup at the United States Naval Academy next weekend, and the Buccaneers will also compete at the Rhode Island State Championships.
