Sailing Records Solid Fourth Place Finish At Great Herring Pond Open

BOURNE, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime sailing team recorded a solid fourth place finish among 16 teams competing over the weekend at the Great Herring Pond Open.

The tandem of sophomore Graham Philpot (Laconia, N.H.) and freshman Kaitlyn Nanartovich (Newport, R.I.) placed third in the A Division with a score of 45 points, while the duo of sophomore Michael Reney (Duxbury, Mass.) and freshman Mikayla Martin (Warwick, R.I.) finished ninth in the B Division with a score of 62 points, giving the Buccaneers a combined team score of 107 points.

Coast Guard won the event with a team score of 80 points, while Salve Regina (86 points) and Boston University (95 points) finished in the runner-up and third place positions, respectively.

Massachusetts Maritime will be in action this weekend at the prestigious Navy MacMillian Cup as well as competition at the MIT Oberg Trophy, the Boston College Invitational and the Southern Maine Wellahan Trophy.
