BOSTON, Mass. --  Junior attack Steve Glover (Marstons Mills, Mass.) netted five goals to lead Wentworth to a 14-5 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday evening at Sweeney Field.

The host Leopards (7-2) overcame a 3-1 second quarter deficit with three unanswered markers in less than six minutes to take a 4-3 on senior Pat Helfrich’s (North Andover, Mass.) tally with 5:37 to play in the half, but the visiting Buccaneers (2-5) evened matters with just seven seconds left in the stanza on senior John Hojnoski’s (West Springfield, Mass.) goal to forge a 4-4 draw at the break.  Wentworth took control of the contest with five unanswered scores in opening 9:33 after intermission, including a pair from Glover, to take a 10-5 edge into the final 15 minutes of action, as Glover’s fourth quarter hat trick capped another five-goal outburst from the hosts to close out the scoring.

Freshmen Nick Parent (Windham, N.H.) and Alec Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) each added a pair of tallies and an assist for three points in the win for Wentworth, which also received two goals from junior Chris Kipp (Scarborough, Maine) as well as a marker and helper off the sticks of sophomore Ryan Coakley (Flemington, N.J.) and freshman Tim Parlato (Needham, Mass.).  Senior Sean Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) and sophomore Dillon Lynch (Southwick, Mass.) also collected assists for the winners, who forced 30 turnovers on the evening.

Hojnoski paced Massachusetts Maritime with a pair of goals and an assist for three points in the setback, while senior Dan Langley (Abington, Mass.), sophomore Dylan Freudenberg (Islip, N.Y.) and freshman Anthony Kurylak (Rye, N.H.) also tallied for the Buccaneers, who received assists off the stick of sophomores Adam Palilonis (Hightstown, N.J.) and Drew Prowse (Wakefield, Mass.).

Junior Jared Proulx (Nashua, N.H.) picked up the win in goal for Wentworth with a 14-save effort, while junior Paul Painten (Walpole, Mass.) made 16 stops in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime as the Leopards outshot the Buccaneers by a 38-33 margin despite losing 15 of 23 face-offs for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Clark in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League outing on Saturday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Wentworth hosts Gordon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match on Saturday evening at Sweeney Field that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
