Buccaneer Men's Lacrosse, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee To Honor Fallen MIT Officer Collier

On Monday, April 29th, the Massachusetts Maritime men’s lacrosse team will host MIT in a re-scheduled Pilgrim Lacrosse League match at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Monday’s match will be dedicated to the memory of fallen MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, who lost his life in the tragic events that took place in Boston and Cambridge late last week.

Officer Collier was a tireless advocate and supporter of the mission of The Jimmy Fund, and members of the Buccaneer Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be collecting donations in Officer Collier’s memory during the remainder of this week on campus and will also be on hand throughout Monday’s match.  All donations received will then be forwarded directly to The Jimmy Fund in Officer Collier’s memory on behalf of the Massachusetts Maritime and MIT men’s lacrosse programs.

“It is a privilege to honor Officer Collier’s memory and to assist, in some small way, in the healing process with members of the MIT community,” Buccaneer Head Coach Rory Deegan said.  “Law enforcement, first responders and medical personnel give of themselves selflessly every day, and they can never receive enough thanks.”

To make a donation to the Buccaneer SAAC in Officer Collier’s memory, please contact SAAC President 2/C Chris Gallagher via e-mail at christopher.gallagher@maritime.edu.
