Solari Nets Hat Trick As Women's Lacrosse Drops 15-4 MASCAC Decision To Salem State

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Bridget Lawless (Swampscott, Mass.) netted four goals and an assist for five points to lead Salem State to a 15-4 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Sunday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

 

The visiting Vikings (2-5, 1-0 MASCAC) jumped out to an 8-1 advantage at the break in scoring 12 of the first 13 goals of the contest, as junior Courtney Smith (Peabody, Mass.) matched Lawless by tallying four times on the afternoon.  Freshman Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, N.Y.) chipped in with a pair of markers and an assist for Salem State, which also received a goal and two helpers off the stick of sophomore Paige Giuliano (Braintree, Mass.).  Junior Samantha Barrett (Arlington, Mass.) and sophomore Chelsea Smith (Tewksbury, Mass.) each added a goal and an assist on the day for the visitors, who also received tallies from seniors Carolyn Woodin (Arlington, Mass.) and Chyenne Jackson (Peabody, Mass.) as well as single helpers from senior Dailey Hancock (Stoughton, Mass.) and freshmen Rose Sullivan (Charlestown, Mass.) and Danae Hoeman (Woburn, Mass.).

 

Senior Ashley Solari (Sandwich, Mass.) notched a hat trick in the setback for the host Buccaneers (0-5, 0-1 MASCAC), who also received a goal and two assists from junior Stephanie Hunt (Brookfield, Conn.) along with a helper off the stick of senior Dahlia Seggelin (Sharon, Mass.).  Freshman Karlie McLear (Paxton, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Salem State with a seven-save effort, while junior Mikayla Correia (Dartmouth, Mass.) made 13 stops in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime as the Vikings outshot the Buccaneers by a 33-13 margin overall (28-11 on goal) and forced 26 turnovers.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Becker in a non-league outing on Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Salem State hosts Southern Maine in a non-league match on Wednesday afternoon in Salem, Mass. that begins at 4:00 p.m.
