Solari, Hunt Combine For 11 Points As Women's Lacrosse Notches 18-3 Non-League Victory Over Becker

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Ashley Solari (Sandwich, Mass.) scored four goals and added two assists for six points to lead Massachusetts Maritime to an 18-3 non-league college women’s lacrosse victory over Becker Monday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

 

The host Buccaneers (2-8) jumped out to a 10-1 halftime advantage in netting 12 of the first 13 goals of the contest, as junior Stephanie Hunt (Brookfield, Conn.) added a hat trick and a pair of assists for five points.  Freshman Cammi Balentine (Haverhill, Mass.) collected a hat trick as well for Massachusetts Maritime, which received a pair of tallies and an assist each from senior Christina Murphy (Forestdale, Mass.) and junior Brianna Pingree (Mashpee, Mass.) along with two goals from sophomore Erica Overstreet (Bridgewater, Mass.).  Senior Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.) chipped in with a marker and a helper for the winners, who received a goal from freshman Heather Seggelin (Sharon, Mass.) and an assist off the stick of senior Kianna Carpenter (Sagamore Beach, Mass.).

 

Junior Meghan Bealka (Freetown, Mass.), sophomore Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass.) and freshman Kayla Richard (Whitinsville, Mass.) netted goals in the setback for the visiting Hawks (5-10), as junior Mikayla Correia (Dartmouth, Mass.) made a pair of saves to earn her second win of the season in goal for Massachusetts Maritime.  Sophomore Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine) made five first half stops in net on the night for Becker, which also received a pair of second half saves from freshman Emily Loud (Wilmington, Mass.), as the Buccaneers outshot the Hawks by a 27-6 margin overall and held a 16-7 edge in draw controls on the evening.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Framingham State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m, while tonight’s contest marked the season finale for Becker.
