Carpenter Named To 2017 MASCAC Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Squad

Massachusetts Maritime senior defender Kianna Carpenter was named to the 2017 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse all-conference team in a vote of the league’s eight coaches that was announced earlier this afternoon.

A native of Sagamore Beach, Mass. and a graduate of Bourne High School, Carpenter becomes the first Buccaneer to earn all-MASCAC accolades in women’s lacrosse and just the second student-athlete in the program’s six-year varsity history to claim all-conference honors, as Tenley Gillett was named all-New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance in 2012.

Carpenter earned a spot on the second team all-MASCAC squad after recording 41 ground balls, 27 draw controls and 26 caused turnovers in 12 matches this season, as she chipped in with an assist on the offensive side along the way.  Kianna started in all but one of her 52 appearances for Massachusetts Maritime during her career, as she collected 145 ground balls, 77 caused turnovers and 50 draw controls while adding eight goals and three assists for 11 points.

A two-sport captain at the Academy, Carpenter also serves as an officer on the Buccaneer Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.  She helped Head Coach Marc Palombo’s squad post a pair of triumphs this spring, including a 16-8 league win at MCLA back on April 22nd.
