Men's Crew Opens Schedule With 15th Place Varsity Fours Performance At Textile River Regatta

LOWELL, Mass.--  The Massachusetts Maritime men’s crew team kicked off the fall portion of its 2012-13 schedule on Sunday morning with a pair of varsity four boats competing at the Textile River Regatta on the Merrimack River.

The Buccaneer “A” boat comprised of sophomore coxswain John Hubert (Trumbull, Conn.), seniors Josh Lamm (North Andover, Mass.) and Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.) and juniors Maxwell Horton (Malden, Mass.) and Alexander Jagielski (Guilford, Conn.) placed 15th of 27 entrants in the varsity fours competition with a time of 23:10.9, while the Massachusetts “B” entry comprised of sophomore coxswain Christopher Nelson (Dighton, Mass.), and fellow sophomores James Mattson (Marion, Mass.), Joshua Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass.), Paul Cullen (Gardner, Mass.) and Stephen Sweeney (West Roxbury, Mass.) placed 26th with a time of 26:11.0.

Both Buccaneer squads return to action next Saturday morning by heading to Shelton, Conn. to participate in the Head of the Housatonic Regatta that begins at 9:00 a.m.
