Men's Crew Posts Solid Performances At Prestigious Head Of The Charles Regatta

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--  The Massachusetts Maritime men’s crew team competed in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday, as the Buccaneers fielded a pair of boats in both the men’s collegiate fours and the men’s club fours.

Sophomore coxswain John Hubert (Trumbull, Conn.), seniors Josh Lamm (North Andover, Mass.) and Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.) and juniors Maxwell Horton (Malden, Mass.) and Alex Jagielski (Guilford, Conn.) represented Massachusetts Maritime in the men’s collegiate fours, as the tandem posted a time of 19:13.5 that was good for 42nd place in a field of 46 competitors.  The University of Virginia took top honors in the event with a time of 16:43.9.

Senior coxswain Lauren Denapoli (Boston, Mass.), sophomores Ryan Gilliland (Barnstable, Mass.) and Liam Barry (Wellesley, Mass.) as well as freshmen Gerard Juliano (Duxbury, Mass.) and Ryan Skavis (Shrewsbury, Mass.) comprised the Buccaneer entry in the men’s club fours, as Massachusetts Maritime placed 49th overall with a time of 20:20.5.  The Union Boat Club took top honors with a time of 16:49.1 in the race.

Both Buccaneer squads close out the fall portion of their 2012-13 schedules next Sunday, October 28th by competing at the Amherst Fall Invitational in South Hadley, Mass. beginning at 9:00 a.m.
