Clark Named Bucs Volleyball Head Coach

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Earlier this week, Buccaneers Director of Athletics Mike Kelley announced the hiring of Cary Clark as the Academy's head volleyball coach. After the position opened following the conclusion of the 2022 season, Clark was hired in February as the program's ninth head coach.

"We are excited to announce the hiring of Coach Clark as our head volleyball coach," said AD Mike Kelley. "His experience and winning track record at all three levels of the sport of volleyball wil lbe invaluable at Maritime."

Cary comes to Massachusetts Maritime with collegiate, club, and high school volleyball coaching experience. For the past two seasons he served as the head coach at Martha Layne Collins High School in Shelbyville, Kentucky. In his two stints as head coach at MLCHS Coach Clark posted a 137-52 record with five district championships and two second place finishes. Cary also spent a season as an assistant coach at Asbury University in Wilmore, KY and has spent more than a decade as a travel coach for the Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy (KIVA) in Louisville. 

"I am extremely grateful and blessed to be presented with the opportunity to be the next volleyball coach at Massachusetts Maritime Academy," said Clark. "I want to thank Mike Kelley and the Athletic Department for giving me this chance and I look forward to becoming a part of the Buccaneer community. Go Bucs!"

Off the court, Cary is the father of two successful college students, one of which plays volleyball at the collegiate level. He spent more than 15 years in the corporate world working for Coca-Cola and is a retired Navy Reservist.
