Volleyball: Bucs Host Annual Dig Pink Game
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- On Tuesday evening, the Buccaneers hosted their annual Dig Pink game against Bridgewater State with all proceeds from the night going to the Side-Out Foundation and their continued fight against metastatic breast cancer. The Bears got the best of the Bucs in the match, 3-0, in a hard fought night by both teams.

Inside the Numbers
For The Bucs
- Offensively, Shayla Narodowg led the team with six kills. Keira Whalen, Alexa Smith, Izabella Mackintosh, and Marlo Stark each had three kills.
- Whalen put up 15 assists in the match for the Bucs.
- Mackintosh had the lone service ace.
- Defensively, Isabelle Miazga and Stark each had 10 digs. Audrey Manning had seven and Alaina Liddell and Whalen each had six.
- Narodowg had two solo blocks in the loss.
- The Buccaneers hitting percentage was at .075 for the match. Stark led the way at .375 and Marnay Acri-Burns picked up her first kill of the season to hit 1.000 in the match to go along with two digs.
For The Bears
- Becca Whalen led all players with 14 kills in the match.
- Savannah Quintal recorded 21 assists for the Bears.
- Quintal, Victoria Caiano, and Bethany Votta each had three service aces in the win.
- Defensively, Srah Brogioli led all players with 17 digs. Caiano was right behind her with 16.
- Kim Gowell and Rachel Sebastian-Asbed each had a solo block. Alexis Starks and Whalen combined for a block.
- Bridgewater's hitting percentage was up at .264 for the match. Quintal led the way at .667 and Whalen came in at .478.
How It Happened
In front of a pack house inside the Clean Harbors Athletics Center, the Buccaneers and Bears put on a show for the crowd. Maritime took a 1-0 lead to start the match and the teams traded points to a 4-4 tie. From there, the Bears offense took over and they went on a 6-0 run to make it 10-4. Maritime chipped back as best the could though Bridgewater led 17-10 midway through the game. The Bears offense took over again and went on an 8-1 run to take the set, 25-11.
In set two, Bridgewater went out to a 4-0 lead that the Bucs quickly erased with a 5-2 run of their own. at 6-5, Bridgewater scored four of the next six points to take a 10-7 advantage. The BSU offense started firing again, pulling out to a 14-7 lead. Maritime cut the deficit to five points, 15-10 and while the Bucs scored five more points, the Bears scored 10 in that span, to win the set 25-15.
In set three, the Bucs went down big but didn't stop battling. With the score 19-8 late in the set, Maritime scored eight of the next 12 points to get back within seven, 23-16. An error by the Bucs and a service ace from the Bears got the two points Bridgewater needed to win the set, 25-16, and the match, 3-0.

The Buccaneers are on the road on Friday, October 14th against Worcester State in conference play beginning at 7pm.
