Barbieri and Smith Earn Academic CSC Academic All-District Honors

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- Tuesday afternoon the College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), released their Women's Volleyball Academic All-District Teams. To be named to the teams the student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior in the classroom and possess a 3.5 or higher grade point average.

The 2022 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic AllAmerica® honorees will be announced in late December.

From the Buccaneers volleyball team, seniors Kolby Barbieri and Alexa Smith have been named to the All-District team and advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.

Both Kolby and Alexa displayed outstanding GPAs as well as above average play on the court in 2022. On the court, Barbieri finished the season with 22 kills, six assists, 54 digs and two block assists in 52 sets. Off the court, Kolby serves as the Student Government Association President as well as the Buccaneer and MASCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President. Smith finished her senior season with 36 kills, six assists, five service aces, 37 digs and a block assist. Off the court, Alexa is a Petty Officer Third Class in the United State Coast Guard and serves as the 6th Company Executive Officer in the Regiment of Cadets.
