Doucette Nets Four Goals, Harris Makes Eight Saves As Women's Lacrosse Drops MASCAC Decision At Fitchburg State

FITCHBURG, Mass. --  Junior Lindsay White (Hanover, Mass.) scored five goals and added an assist for six points to lead Fitchburg State to a 15-8 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday evening at Elliot Field.

 

The host Falcons (5-7, 2-2 MASCAC) scored the first 11 goals of the contest in building a 12-1 advantage at the break, as freshman Kayla Panek (Belchertown, Mass.) matched White’s point total with a pair of tallies and four assists on the night.  Freshmen Ali Laferriere (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Andrea Comeau (Watertown, Mass.) chipped in with hat tricks for Fitchburg State, which also received a pair of markers and a helper from senior Markie Apple (Pittsfield, Mass.) as well as a single assist off the stick of sophomore Brianna Dunn (Monson, Mass.).

 

Senior Hillary Doucette (Manchester, Mass.) netted four goals in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (3-6, 0-3 MASCAC), who also received a pair of tallies from freshman Dahlia Seggelin (Sharon, Mass.) as well as markers off the sticks of sophomore Janine Prokscha (Washington, Conn.) and freshman Kianna Carpenter (Sagamore Beach, Mass.).  Freshmen Cassandra Charpentier (New Bedford, Mass.) and Christina Murphy (Forestdale, Mass.) added assists on the evening for Massachusetts Maritime, which scored the final four goals of the contest.

 

Sophomore Elizabeth Darrigo (Billerica, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Fitchburg State with a 14-save effort, while freshman Melissa Harris (Scituate, Mass.) made eight stops in net in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, as the Falcons outshot the Buccaneers by a 32-27 margin and held a 19-6 advantage in draw controls for the match.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Worcester State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Fitchburg State heads to Salem, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to square off with Salem State in a MASCAC match that begins at 4:00 p.m.
