FINAL:              BECKER 13, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 6

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Tatum Fahs (Foster, R.I.) netted five goals and added a pair of assists for seven points to lead Becker to a 13-6 non-league college women’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Markers by Fahs and senior Christina Boucher (Pawcatuck, Conn.) staked the visiting Hawks (5-3) to an early 2-0 lead 5:51 into the contest, and after freshman Ashley Solari (Sandwich, Mass.) sliced the host Buccaneers’ (0-4) deficit in midway through the opening period, Becker took a 4-1 edge on tallies by Boucher and senior Ashley Mossey (Ballston Lake, N.Y.), who became the first player in school history to reach the 200 career-goal plateau with the score.  The two teams exchanged a pair of goals each in the final 6:12 of the half to give the Hawks a 6-3 cushion at intermission, but Massachusetts Maritime cut that gap back to two (7-5) on markers by sophomore Janine Prokscha (Washington, Conn.) and freshman Dahlia Seggelin (Sharon, Mass.), the latter coming with 16:13 to play.  Becker took control of the match with four unanswered goals, including a pair by Mossey, over a 4:34 span to take an 11-5 advantage with 8:47 remaining, as the Hawks added two more scores in the final 4:25 to ice their triumph.

Mossey finished with four goals on the day for Becker, which also received a pair of goals and an assist each off the sticks of Boucher and senior Samantha-Jo Dilkes (Little Falls, N.J.).  Prokscha and Seggelin each tallies twice in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a marker and two helpers from Solari.  Freshman Kianna Carpenter (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) netted her first collegiate goal on the day for the Buccaneers, who also received an assist from sophomore Molly Smith (Westwood, Mass.).

Sophomore Shelby Wicks (Shaftsbury, Vt.) picked up the win in goal for Becker with an eight-save effort, while sophomore Jenna Breault (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) also made eight stops in net for Massachusetts Maritime as the Hawks outshot the Buccaneers by a 28-20 margin to overcome 30 turnovers.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Bay Path in a non-league outing on Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Becker heads to Chicopee, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Elms in a New England Collegiate Conference match that begins at 5:00 p.m.
