BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Ashley Solari (Sandwich, Mass.) netted four goals and a pair of assists for six points to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 16-4 non-league college women’s lacrosse victory over Bay Path Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

 

The host Buccaneers (1-4) scored the first nine goals of the contest in building a 13-1 advantage at the break, as senior Hillary Doucette (Manchester, Mass.) chipped in with a hat trick and an assist for four points on the night for the winners.  Freshman Dahlia Seggelin (Sharon, Mass.) added a hat trick as well for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a pair of markers from freshman Melissa Harris (Scituate, Mass.) as well as a tally and a career-high three assists from senior Jenelle Piche (Coventry, R.I.).  Sophomore Janine Prokscha (Washington, Conn.) and freshman Kianna Carpenter (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) each notched a goal and an assist for the Buccaneers, who also received a marker from freshman Christina Murphy (Forestdale, Mass.) and a helper off the stick of fellow freshman Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.).

 

Junior Nicole Mitchell (Hopkinton, N.H.) registered a hat trick in the setback for the visiting Wildcats (0-3), who also received a goal from fellow junior Megan Squadrito (Ellington, Conn.).  Sophomore Jenna Breault (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) picked up her first collegiate victory in goal for Massachusetts Maritime by making a pair of saves, while sophomore Kimberly Drahushuk (Hudson, N.Y.) made 14 stops in the setback for Bay Path.  The Buccaneers outshot the Wildcats by a 31-8 margin and held a 16-6 edge in draw controls on the evening.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Mitchell in a non-league outing on Sunday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Bay Path entertains Regis in a New England Collegiate Conference match on Saturday afternoon in Longmeadow, Mass. that begins at 1:00 p.m.
