Bucs Shine at D3 Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass -- Anthony ChildsAlyssa GriecoLiam Higgins, and Joshua Rousseau all competed at the Division III New England Championships at Springfield College this weekend and performed well with multiple top 10 finishes and a handful of new program records.

Rousseau threw in the hammer on Friday afternoon and the Discus on Saturday afternoon. In the hammer on Friday, Josh finished seventh overall in a field of 20. His throw was 50.45 meters which sets the new program record that he has now broken and set four different times this season. His previous record setting throw was 50.02 meters. Going into the event he was ranked 10th and moved up three spots in New England with the finish. On Saturday, Rousseau finished outside of the top 10 in 11th place with a 41.73 meter toss. 

Higgins took part in the javelin on friday afternoon and finished in seventh place with a throw of 55.40 meters which is a new Buccaneers program record for the Sophomore. The previous program record was held by Josh Hutchinson who held the record for 11 years. Hutchinsons 2012 record throw in the javelin was 54.91 meters. Higgins beat the by .49 meters.

Childs broke his own records in the 200 and 400 meter dash again in Springfield. In the 400 meter dash, Anthony finished in eighth place finishing at 49.62 seconds. In the 200 meter dash he finished 13th with a time of 22.32 seconds.

Grieco, who was ranked 19th going into the women's 400 meter hurdles, finished in 13th place at the New England Championships with a time of 1:07.62. Her finish was .17 seconds off of her record in the event.
