Childs, Grieco, and Rousseau Break Records at Regis and Fitchburg

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- This past weekend the Buccaneers track and field team competed in the Regis Spring Classic in Weston, Ma and the Jim Sheehan Invitational at Fitchburg State. In the Regis meet, Anthony ChildsAlyssa Grieco, and Joshua Rousseau broke five program records and Grieco broke another at Fitchburg State. 

At Regis, Rousseau tossed a best throw of 47.64 meters in the Hammer Throw event breaking the previous record held by Rousseau set in the 2022 season. His previous mark was set at 47.27 meters which he broke by .37 meters at Regis. Childs set two new records in Weston in the 200 and 400 meter dashes. In the 200 he finished with a time of :22.46 seconds breaking his previous program best mark of :22.57 seconds set in 2021 during his sophomore season. In the 400 he set a new best time of :50.29 seconds breaking EJ Bennett's 10-year old record from 2013 at :50.81 seconds. Grieco set new records in the 400 meter dash and the long jump events at Regis; her 400 meter time was 1:04.34 beating Michelle Sheehan's record in the event set in 2018 at 1:05.21. In the long jump, Grieco jumped 4.30 meters breaking Danielle McPhee's record from the first year of the program's existence, 2007, which was set at 4.17 meters.

On Saturday in Fitchburg, Grieco continued breaking records, this time in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.10 breaking her own record from last season by .55 seconds. Her 2022 mark was at 1:09.65.

The record breaking Bucs are at Connecticut College on April 14th and 15th for the Silfen Invitational.
