Childs, Grieco and Rousseau Make Program History at MASCAC Championships

FITCHBURG, Mass -- The Buccaneers men's and women's track team took part in the MASCAC Championship meet at Fitchburg State. Both the Bucs men's and women's teams finished last out of all the teams though they did make history with Anthony Childs and Alyssa Grieco became the first runners in program history to win an event at the conference championship meet and Joshua Rousseau became the first Buccaneers to win two throwing events at the Championship meet.

For the men, Childs finished first in the 400 meter dash with a final time of 50.55 seconds.

Rousseau won both the discus with a three of 42.46 meters and the hammer throw with a final throw of 50.02 meters. The 50.02 meter throw in the hammer breaks the program record for the event that Rousseau has now broken three times this year.

In the men's javelin, Liam Higgins finished fourth overall with a throw of 52.93 meters and Tyler Fountain finished eighth with a throw of 48.57 meters.

On the women's side, Grieco won the 400 meter hurdles with a finishing time of 1:07. 85, seven seconds again of the second place finisher.

Buccaneers freshman Sydney Sawyer finished fifth overall in the discus with a throw of 23.98 meters and was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 24.95 meters.

The Bucs are on to the DIII New England Meet next week at Springfield College.
