BRIDGEWATER, Mass -- The Buccaneers track and field team opened their season on Saturday at Bridgewater State's Bears Spring Classic. On the men's side, Anthony Childs won the men's 200 meter dash and Alyssa Grieco was a top finisher on the women's side.

For the women, Grieco finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.24 in the finals beating out two Assumption runners by more than two seconds. 

Childs won the men's 200 meter dash with a final time of 22.69 second, beating out Bridgewater's Mason Matias by .22 seconds. 

The Men's 4x100 meter relay team of Demetri Boozer, Sean Gibson, Jhoodson Charles and Childs finished seventh in a field of 13 teams with a final time of 44.69 seconds.

Joshua Rousseau finished second in the men's discus with a toss of 42.35 meters, .21 meters behind the winner of the event, Yoofi Abaka-Amuah from Assumption.

Maritime will travel to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, April 1st to take part in the Corsair Classic.
