Grieco Breaks 400m Hurdles Record, Qualifies for DIII New England in Bucs trip to Conn College

NEW LONDON, Conn -- The Buccaneers track & field team took part in the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Friday and Saturday this weekend. Alyssa Grieco broke a record she set last week and Anthony Childs won the men's 400 meter dash.

For the second time in as many weeks, Alyssa Grieco broke the school record in the 400 meter hurdles event. Last week she set the new record at 1:09.10 and this week in Connecticut she shattered that record setting the new best time at 1:07.45 which also qualifies her for the Division III New England meet at the end of the regular season. She finished third in the event at the Silfen.

On the men's side, Anthony Childs finished first in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 50.56 seconds. Last week, he set the program record in the event at 50.29 seconds which he missed this week by .27 seconds.

Liam Higgins finished sixth in the men's javelin with a toss of 49.29 meters. Joshua Rousseau finished ninth in the men's discus with a best toss of 37.57 meters.

The Bucs Travel to Eastern Connecticut next week on Friday, April 21st to participate in the Bonnie Edmondson Classic at 2pm and will be at MIT for the Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday, April 22nd.
