Brady, Barnas Named As Buccaneer Men's Cross Country Captains For 2014 Season

The 2014 Massachusetts Maritime men’s cross country season will be off and running in a few short weeks, and today veteran Head Coach Chris Ryan announced that seniors Tyler Brady and Alexander Barnas will serve as co-captains for this year’s Buccaneer squad.

Brady, a native of Woburn, Mass. and a graduate of Woburn High School, and Barnas, a native of Easton, Pa. and a graduate of Easton Area High School, are three-year letterwinners and have been top performers for Ryan’s squad throughout their careers.  Brady was the first runner across the line for Massachusetts Maritime in all eight races as a sophomore in 2012, while Barnas has also been a top scorer for the Buccaneers, including a 29th place individual finish in last year’s Travis Fuller Invitational.

“Both Tyler and Alex have demonstrated a deep commitment to our program throughout their careers,” Ryan, who guided Massachusetts Maritime to the 2005 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference title, says of his co-captains.  “That determination has resulted improved performances and has seen them gain the respect of their teammates and coaches.  I’m grateful to have such outstanding young men lead us this season.”

The Buccaneers begin the new campaign on Saturday, September 6th when Massachusetts Maritime hosts the Lt. Travis J. Fuller Invitational alongside the Cape Cod Canal beginning at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
