Men's Lax Pours on 20 in Win over Salem on Senior Night

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers hosted Salem State in Little East Conference play on Wednesday and on rain-soaked Taylor's Points, the Bucs scored 20 in their 20-7 win to move to 3-1 in conference. In the game, sophomore Daniel Kane reached the 100 career point mark.

  • Connor Vittands led the Vikes with three goals. Timothy Eddings netted two in the loss. Cameron Collins and Payton Cabral each tallied one score.
  • Collins racked up four assists and Eddings had one.

How It Happened

Maritime scored the first two goals of the game with Kane scoring first at 11:55 and Percival scoring at 10:05 to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead. Salem cut that lead in half eight minutes later on Cabral's goal and made it 2-1. The lowest scoring period of the game closed out with a goal from Kane, his second, at 48 seconds, and the Bucs led 3-1 after one quarter of play.

In the second, Mucha scored first to give Maritime a three-goal lead at 14:38. 31 seconds later, Vittands scored to cut the deficit to two goals, 4-2. The Bucs then went on a three-goal run with two from Kosiewicz and one from Mucha, giving them a five-goal, 7-2, advantage. Salem scored two at 3:51 and 2:23 to close out the half. Maritime led 7-4 at the break.

The Buccaneers outscored the Vikings in the third quarter 8-1. Mucha scored first 30 seconds in to the second half and the Buccaneers added three more before the 12 minute mark of the quarter. Kosiewicz, Iversen, and Mucha again joined the scoring party. Maritime led 11-4 with 12:04 left in the third. It took six more minutes for the next goal to come and it came from Salem's Vittands to make the score 11-5. The Buccaneers then scored four more times in the final five and a half minutes of the third with goals from Aguado-Scheyer, Buckley, Kane, and Vricella. Maritime led Salem after three quarters by 10, 15-5.

In the fourth, The Bucs ran their unanswered run to eight goals with four goals to open the quarter. Mucha and Barrett each scored on power plays, then Kane and MacIver scored at even strength to run the score to 19-5 Bucs. Salem scored twice, at 5:59 and 1:28. Kosiewicz closed out the game with his fourth at 1:05 and the Bucs headed to the locker room to get dry with their third conference win of the season, 20-7, over Salem State.
