Men's Lacrosse Opens Season With Road Win over Wildcats
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Thursday afternoon, in a late addition to the Buccaneers men's lacrosse schedule which served as the team's season opener, the Bucs took down the Johnson & Wales Wildcats in Providence by a 11-5 final. Daniel Kane led the scoring for the Bucs with three goals. Cooper Barrett, and freshman Quinn Mucha each scored twice for the Bucs in the win.

How It Happened
The Wildcats opened the scoring in the first quarter with a goal from Marcinko less than four minutes in. The Buccaneers equalized with eight minutes left in the quarter on Kosiewicz first goal of the season, from Iversen. Just over a minute later, Centeio netted a go-ahead goal for the hosts to make it 2-1. With 1:26 left in the first, Mucha scored his first collegiate goal, from Barrett, to make the score 2-2 at the end of the first.
Maritime controlled the second quarter scoring all four goals in the period. Vricella opened the scoring with his first collegiate goal at 13:34. Barrett followed that up with his first of the season at 11:26. A minute later, MacIver scored his first career goal to put the Bucs up 5-2. Kane scored his first of the season, and first of three in the game, from Iversen with under a minute left until the halftime break. The Bucs led the Wildcats 6-2 at half.
In the third, the teams split the scoring with two apiece. Mucha scored his second a minute in to the half and Iversen scored with 9:21 in the third making it 8-2 Bucs. Maritime's 7-0 run ended at the eight minute mark of the third quarter on McInnis's goal. Centeio scored his second to cut the Bucs lead in half, 8-4, heading to the fourth.
In the final quarter of regulation, the Wildcats scored first on McInnis's second goal to make the score 8-5. The Bucs went on to score the final three goals of the game, Barrett at 12:18, Kane at 11:50, and Kane again at 5:09, to bring the score to the eventual final, 11-5.
