Sullivan Records 100th Career Point in Bucs Fifth Consecutive Win

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – The Buccaneers hosted the Dean College Bulldogs on Thursday night in their final non-conference tune-up before beginning conference play on Saturday on the road against Fitchburg State. Coming in to the game, the team had already won four straight games, and by a score of 21-1 against Dean, they made it five consecutive, the longest win streak in program history. With the win, the team moves to 6-3 on the season which matches the programs highest win total in program history which was set last season.

Sophomore attacker Casey Sullivan (Sagamore Beach, Mass) led all scorers with six goals in the game. She also added two assists. Her fifth goal was also her 100th career points, 24 games in to her Maritime lacrosse career. She is tied with Steph Hunt '18 for the fastest player to 100 career points in program history. Sophomore attacker Anna Deely (Marstons Mills, Mass) and freshman attacker Nora McLaughlin (Quincy, Mass) each scored four times in the game and tallied three assists each. Cammi Balentine (Haverhill, Mass) netted three goals and added two assists for the hosts. Freshman Olivia Noonan (Sandwich, Mass) made her first start of the season in this game. She scored twice and had an assist. Captain Erica Overstreet (Bridgewater, Mass) and junior Heather Seggelin (Sharon, Mass) each scored a goal. Overstreet also had two assists. Defensively, Balentine and Seggelin each had two caused turnovers. Goalie Laura Kleber (Westport, Mass) saw just four shots on the night and saved three of them.

Dean's lone goal scorer was Lauryn Wilks (Hartford, Conn) on an assisted effort early in the first half. The Bulldogs had seven shots, four of which were on target. Goalie Jamaya Cleveland (Greensboro, Ga) made 11 saves on the 32 shots she faced.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring less than a minute in to the first half on Wilks' goal. From that point, the Buccaneers went on a 21-0 run which started with a Balentine goal immediately after the Dean score. Maritime scored 11 times in the first half giving them an 11-1 advantage at the break.

In the second half, the Bucs continued their scoring. Sullivan scored the first two goals of the half and then with seven minutes gone off the clock, Casey scored her fifth goal of the game and recorded her 100th career point. Following Sullivan's sixth goal, the Buccaneers scored six more times, putting the game away, 21-1, for their fifth consecutive win, improving to 6-3 on the season.

The Buccaneers begin MASCAC play on Saturday on the road against Fitchburg State at 12pm.
