Hunt Named As MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie Of The Week Following Record Setting Performance

Massachusetts Maritime freshman midfielder Stephanie Hunt was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon for her performance in three Buccaneer contests last week.

A native of Brookfield, Conn. and a graduate of Brookfield High School, Hunt netted 13 goals and three assists for 16 points, including a career-high six tallies and a helper in an 11-10 overtime setback at Framingham State on Saturday.  She added a hat trick and an assist in a 16-5 non-league triumph over Elms on Thursday evening and began the week with a four goal, five point performance in a 13-8 setback to Salem State.

Hunt leads Head Coach Leslie Bushy’s squad in scoring with 27 goals and 13 assists for 40 points to date, as she has already set the school single-season mark for points in just 11 matches played.  Stephanie has netted five free positions markers and is tied for third on the team in ground balls with 21.

Massachusetts Maritime, which has already set a program single-season record with five victories in just its fourth varsity campaign, heads into Boston this evening for a non-league match with Wentworth that begins at 6:00 p.m. EDT.
