O'Donnell Earns Second MASCAC Outdoor Field Athlete Of The Week Accolade Of Season
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --
Massachusetts Maritime junior Rory
O’Donnell was named as the Massachusetts State
College Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of
the Week for the second time this season on Sunday evening for his
efforts at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic on Saturday
afternoon.
A native of Somerset, Mass. and a graduate of Somerset High
School, O’Donnell took top honors in the triple jump with a
mark of 13.15 meters, and he added a third place finish in the high
jump (1.78 meters) and a fifth place effort in the long jump (5.73
meters) in helping the Buccaneers finish fourth overall in the team
competition with 82 points.
O’Donnell earned his
first MASCAC accolade of the season on March 22nd after
finishing second in the triple jump at the Northeastern Husky
Spring Open with a mark of 12.97 meters in the event, as he
qualified for the 2010 New England Division III Outdoor Track &
Field Championships that will take place in early May with his
effort.
O’Donnell, who serves as one of the Massachusetts
Maritime’s outdoor track & field tri-captains this spring
and is a member of the Buccaneer Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee, has now garnered three MASCAC Outdoor Field Athlete of
the Week honors during his career.
The Buccaneers will compete at the Connecticut College Silfen
Invitational on Saturday morning in New London, Conn. beginning at
11:00 a.m. EDT.
