O'Donnell, Sullo Captures Individual Titles In Men's Triple, High Jump For Bucs At 2010 MASCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Two members of the Massachusetts Maritime outdoor track & field team captured Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference individual championships in their respective events at the 2010 MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships on Saturday afternoon on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Junior Rory O’Donnell (Somerset, Mass.) took top honors in the triple jump with a mark of 13.73 meters to best the field, as he qualified for the upcoming ECAC Championships in the event as well.  Sophomore Chris Sullo (Canton, Mass.) collected the second medal of the day for the Buccaneers with a first place finish in the high jump, as he posted a mark of 1.86 meters in the event.  Massachusetts Maritime also picked up points in the men’s 4 X 100 and men’s 4 X 400 relay on the day, as the Buccaneers finished with 17 points to finish fifth in the MASCAC championship and 10th overall in the Alliance, which combines competition from both MASCAC and Little East schools.  Fitchburg State snapped Westfield State’s 13-year run as MASCAC champion by taking top team honors on the day.

Junior Meredith Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) posted a fourth place finish in the women’s javelin for Massachusetts Maritime, as she posted a mark of 34.10 meters to record all of the Buccaneer points in the MASCAC Championships, as Worcester State ended Westfield State’s 12-year hold on the team crown by taking top honors.

O’Donnell, Sullo, Hall and the men’s 4 X 400 relay squad will represent Massachusetts Maritime at the 2010 New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships next Saturday morning at Tufts that begin at 11:00 a.m.
