DEDHAM, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime outdoor track & field team opened its 2010 season with solid individual performances at the Northeastern Husky Spring Carnival Saturday afternoon at Solomon Track.

Junior Rory O’Donnell (Somerset, Mass.) and sophomore Chris Sullo (Canton, Mass.) placed second and eighth, respectively, in the men’s triple jump for the Buccaneers with marks of 12.97 and 12.34 meters, respectively, while freshman Evan Balderelli (Brimfield, Mass.) enjoyed his collegiate debut by finishing 14th in the 110 meter hurdles (19.07) and 15th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.71).

Junior Meredith Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) posted a solid finish in the women’s javelin as well for the Bucs, as she placed 14th overall (sixth best among Division III competitors) with a mark of 30.78 meters.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Westfield, Mass. next Saturday morning to compete in the Westfield State Jerry Gravel Invitational that begins at 11:00 a.m.
