ANNAPOLIS, Md. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team closed out its fall schedule with a 19th place overall finish at the Navy Atlantic Coast Tournament over the weekend.

Juniors Jeffrey Adam (Newport, R.I.) and Sergio Gratta (Sarasota, Fla.) comprised the Buccaneer “A” boat in the competition, while seniors Kyle Brego (St. John, Virgin Islands) and Evan Sampou (West Newbury, Mass.), along with sophomore Catherine Haines (East Haddam, Conn.), sailed in Massachusetts Maritime’s “B” vessel.  Tricky winds and tide conditions prevailed throughout the weekend, as Connecticut College took top honors in the final team standings in besting runner-up Brown and third place Cornell.

The Buccaneers finished the season ranked 18th in the final New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association co-ed rankings and participated in the New England Dinghy Championships for the first time in a decade this fall.
