BOURNE, Mass./NEWPORT, R.I. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team recorded a pair of top six performances during competition over the weekend in the Admiral Alymer’s Trophy Regatta at the Keith Hartford Sailing Center as well as at the New England Dinghy Tournament hosted by Roger Williams.

The Buccaneers were represented in the Admiral Alymer’s Trophy by junior Sergio Gratta (Sarasota, Fla.), sophomore Braden Foster (Trumbull, Conn.) and freshmen Adam Bilodeau (Oak Bluffs, Mass.), Maya Stephani (Chicago, Ill.), Alex Bowen (North Kingstown, R.I.) and Megan Laurie (North Weymouth, Mass.).  Massachusetts Maritime placed sixth overall in the competition, which was won by Northeastern with a team score of 73 points.  Vermont took the runner-up spot with 80 points, while Tufts topped Brown by two points for the third place position.

Gratta, Bilodeau and Stephani joined senior George Luber (North Redington Beach, Fla.) in competing at the New England Dinghy Tournament on Narragansett Bay, as wet and windy conditions have way to favorable skies as the weekend progressed.  The Buccaneers recorded a fifth place finish in the final team standings, as Salve Regina won the event with a score of 57 points to top both Middlebury and Johnson & Wales, who each notched 62 points.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Annapolis, Md. on Saturday morning to compete at the Navy Spring Invitational that begins at 9:00 a.m.
