HANOVER, N.H. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team saw conditions turn from light to favorable over the weekend at the Dartmouth Hewitt Trophy on Lake Mascoma, as the Buccaneers posted a 13th place overall finish in the two-day competition.

Senior Kyle Brego (St. John, Virgin Islands) and freshman Maya Stephani (Chicago, Ill.) comprised Massachusetts Maritime’s “A” division entry, while the duo of junior Jeffrey Adam (Newport, R.I.) and freshman Megan Laurie (North Weymouth, Mass.) sailed in the “B” vessel.  The trio of junior Sergio Gratta (Sarasota, Fla.), sophomore Catherine Haines (East Haddam, Conn.) and freshman Alex Bowen (North Kingstown, R.I.) competed in the Buccaneer “C” division boat, as Adam and Laurie won their final race of the day on Sunday in conditions that saw shifting winds throughout the afternoon.

Massachusetts Maritime’s dinghy squad will compete next weekend at the Bowdoin Barnett Trophy in Brunswick, Maine, while the Buccaneer offshore team heads to Larchmont, N.Y. for the two-day Storm Trysail Regatta over Columbus Day weekend.
