Inside The Numbers

Maritime

Worcester

  • Five different players had a hit for the Lancers including a double by Jeremy DeLacruz.
  • Kevin Doyle and Nathan Thurber both had a stolen base.

How It Happened

Game two was a different story for the Buccaneers at the plate as they strung together seven hits and five walks to help them produce their 11 runs.

The scoring began in the bottom of the second on a Houston sacrifice bunt that scored Estrada after he had tripled earlier in the inning. Maritime took a 1-0 lead at that point.

In the third, they poured on five more runs. Pietrafesa drove in Logiudice, Estrada knocked in White on a ground-rule double, Beechin drove in two on a single through the left side, and Leslie hit an infield single that allowed Dean to come in and make the score 6-0 Buccaneers after three.

The fourth and fifth were scoreless, as well as the top of the sixth, and in the bottom of the sixth frame Maritime added five more runs. Pietrafesa singled and brought in logiudice again. Dean followed that up with a single to drive in two and Pietrafesa and White scored. Correia then walked with the bases loaded and Leslie grounded out to first and Dean scored. The Bucs took an 11-0 lead after six.

Dwight came out for the seventh and shut down the Lancers to earn the complete game shutout win to send the Bucs to the MASCAC playoffs as the five seed.
