BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers played host to Anna Maria on Saturday and though they got four hits, including a home run from AJ Pietrafesa across the two games, the Bucs fell 4-0 in game one and 16-1 in game two.

  • David Doherty recorded three hits in the game. Five other AMCATS had hits in the win.
  • Josh Batchelder drove in two runs. Doherty and Brady Aylward both drove in one run.

How It Happened

After neither team scored in the first four innings of the game, the AMCATS scored four in the top of the fifth. Doherty singled to drive in one, Aylward walked with the bases loaded, and Batchelder singled to bring in two. 

Choate was dominant on the mound and kept the Bucs off the board to earn the 4-0 shutout win for Anna Maria

  • David Doherty and Jarrod Marifiote both had three hits in the game. Jarryn Barber recorded two hits. Eight other AMCATS recorded hits in the win.
  • Doherty drove in four runs. Barber, Marifiote, Josh Batchelder, Jeremy Rosenberg, and Matt Beuka all drove in two runs.
  • Barber scored three times. Doherty, Batchelder, and Rosenberg all scored twice.
  • Doherty had two doubles and Batchelder, Rosenberg, and Beuka all recorded one double.
  • Marifiote had the only stolen base in the game. 

How It Happened

The first two innings of game two were scoreless. Then, in the top of the third, Anna Maria scored six times to take a 6-0 lead. 

In the top of the fourth, the AMCATS scored two more to extend their lead to 8-0.

Anna Maria kept it going offensively in the top of the sixth scoring five more runs. In the bottom of the frame, Pietrafesa homered to erase the shutout and make the score 13-1. 

The AMCATS scored three more in the top of the seventh and the Bucs were blanked in the bottom of the frame. Anna Maria took game two, 16-1, and swept the doubleheader.

The Bucs are back home, Sunday, March 17th to take on Rivier in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 12pm.
