Quinn Named As MASCAC Football Special Teams Player Of The Week For Cranberry Bowl Performance

Massachusetts Maritime sophomore placekicker Ryan Quinn was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week Saturday night for his performance in the Buccaneers’ 31-21 victory over rival Bridgewater State in the 36th Annual Cranberry Bowl Presented By Ocean Spray.

A native of North Andover, Mass. and a graduate of North Andover High School, Quinn converted a 23-yard field goal on the game’s opening drive while also knocking in all four of his extra point attempts for the contest.  He also limited the Bears to just 20 kickoff return yards on six attempts in holding Bridgewater State to an average starting field position of its own 24-yard line.

The conference accolade is Quinn’s second of his career, as he also earned the honor on October 12, 2013 after converting all six of his point-after attempts in a wild 54-53 victory at Western Connecticut.

Massachusetts Maritime recorded four victories under 10th-year Head Coach Jeremy Cameron during the 2014 season, as the Buccaneers’ Cranberry Bowl victory was their first since 2010 and marked the first time they claimed “The Scoop” on the road in 30 years.  Cameron, who has amassed 24 overall wins over the last five years, also guided his squad to its fourth straight Admiral’s Cup win over Maine Maritime (26-20 in double overtime) back on September 20th.  Massachusetts Maritime is in possession of both The Scoop and The Admiral’s Cup in the same season for the first time since 1987.
