Andrade Named As MASCAC Football Co-Defensive Player Of The Week
Massachusetts Maritime senior linebacker Victor Andrade was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Saturday evening for his efforts in the Buccaneers’ 26-20 double overtime victory over rival Maine Maritime in the 42nd Annual Admiral’s Cup clash.
A native of Yarmouth Port, Mass. and a graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth High School, Andrade registered 10 total tackles (eight solo) and forced a fumble on the Mariners’ possession in the second extra session to set up Massachusetts Maritime’s fourth straight triumph in the Admiral’s Cup series. Over the first two games of the 2014 campaign, Andrade (who shared the MASCAC honor with Framingham State senior Matthew Mangano) has recorded 18 total tackles (14 solo) and also returned a fumble recovery for his second career touchdown in the season-opening 31-30 Chowder Bowl setback at SUNY-Maritime on September 11th.
Head Coach Jeremy Cameron’s Buccaneers, now 1-1 on the young season, opens MASCAC play on Saturday, September 27th when Massachusetts Maritime entertains Worcester State in a league outing on Homecoming at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 12:30 p.m. EDT.
