Massachusetts Maritime senior wide receiver E.J. Bennett’s 93-yard first quarter touchdown catch in last Saturday’s 31-21 Cranberry Bowl victory at Bridgewater State is one of four nominees for this week’s Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Fan Play of the Week.

Fans can visit www.mascac.com and click on the Football Fan Play of the Week page to vote for E.J.’s effort, which helped the Buccaneers build a 24-point lead en route to their first Cranberry Bowl win in 30 years on the Bears’ home turf.  Bennett was named as the Lee Harrington Most Valuable Player of the contest, finishing with 11 receptions for 239 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the triumph.

Voting is open until Noon on Wednesday, and this week’s winner will be announced by the conference office later that afternoon.  Bridgewater State, Plymouth State and Western Connecticut are the other three schools competing for this week’s top play.

Bennett is looking to join freshman Kenny Pierce (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) as a MASCAC Football Fan Play of the Week winner, as Pierce earned the nod with an 81-yard touchdown run in Massachusetts Maritime’s 46-41 victory at UMass Dartmouth on October 25^th.
