Klangos Collects Six Set Assists And Pair Of Kills As Volleyball Drops 3-0 Non-League Decision To Suffolk

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Talia Lombardo (Windham, N.H.) recorded eight kills, eight service aces and eight digs to lead Suffolk to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening by game scores of 25-9, 25-9 and 25-19 in a match played at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

 

Freshman Bridget Allison (Westford, Mass.) also notched eight kills in the triumph for the visiting Rams (1-1), who presented Head Coach Bonny Ducharme with her first collegiate win.  Sophomore Jane Buckley (Plaistow, N.H.) collected five service aces as well for Suffolk, which also received four kills from freshman Chidera Nwankwo (Canton, Mass.) to go with a combined 16 set assists from senior Caitlyn Mockler (Manchester, Conn.) and sophomore Liz Kerek (Holbrook, Mass.).

 

Senior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.) notched six set assists, two kills and a pair of service aces in the setback for the host Buccaneers (0-2), who also received two kills each from senior Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.) and junior Cassidy Nice (Carver, Mass.).  Freshman Kaleigh Hoffman (Noblesville, Ind.) chipped in with six digs for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a combined 11 digs from juniors Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.) and Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) as well as three set assists from junior Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.). 

 

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Milton, Mass. for a non-league tri-match with Pine Manor and host Curry on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Suffolk travels to Bridgewater, Mass. on Thursday evening to take on Bridgewater State in a non-league outing that begins at 6:00 p.m.
