BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Emily Marks (Newtown, Pa.) and freshman Caroline Eastman (East Granby, Conn.) each netted a pair of goals to lead Coast Guard to a 5-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Marks gave the visiting Bears (2-8) the only tally they would need in the 23rd minute of play when she converted a feed from sophomore Liz Runci (Duxbury, Mass.), and freshman Sheila Dutt (Hurlock, Md.) extended Coast Guard’s advantage to 2-0 with 2:23 to play in the half on an assist from junior Judy Hooymans (Batavia, Ill.)..  Marks collected her second marker of the match in the 74th minute to give the visitors a 3-0 edge, and Eastman tacked on a pair of unassisted goals that came just 1:48 apart in the closing minutes to account for the final score.

Junior Devin Fellman (New Port Richey, Fla.) picked up the shutout win in goal for Coast Guard with four saves, while freshman Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 14 stops in net in the setback for the host Buccaneers (1-7), as the Bears outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 26-4 margin on the afternoon while also taking eight of the nine corner kicks in the match.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Worcester State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at Noon, while Coast Guard hosts Babson in a New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference outing on Saturday afternoon in New London, Conn. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
