FRAMINGHAM, Mass. --  Senior Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, Mass.) rapped out three hits and drove in four runs as Framingham State swept a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference softball doubleheader from Massachusetts Maritime Thursday afternoon by scores of 19-2 in the opener and 14-1 in the nightcap in games played at Farley Field.

Sophomore Taylor Ezold (Westfield, Mass.) collected three hits and a pair of RBI in the opening game triumph for the host Rams (8-18, 4-4 MASCAC), who also received a pair of triples off the bat of junior Katie Donovan (Holden, Mass.) as part of a 17-hit attack.  DiTerlizzi and sophomores Kendra Fisher (Abington, Mass.) and Sherren Doyle (Middleboro, Mass.) each added two hits and two RBI in the first contest for Framingham State in support of junior Alysia Morrissette (Ware, Mass.), who allowed two runs and struck out three for her second win of the season.

The visiting Buccaneers (1-17, 0-8 MASCAC) plated both of their opening game runs on a steal of home by sophomore Meghan Thibeault (Scituate, Mass.) and a fielder’s choice, as Thibeault, sophomore Janelle Beaulieu (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) and freshman Jaclyn Labrecque (Sutton, Mass.) each singled in the setback.  Labrecque went the distance and fanned five in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime in the opener.

Sophomore Olivia D’Alessandro’s (Billerica, Mass.) bases-clearing double highlighted a six-run opening inning in the nightcap that propelled Framingham State, which received a pair of RBI each from DiTerlizzi and freshman Kate Corriveault (Blackstone, Mass.).  Sophomore Adriana Faria (Acton, Mass.) picked up the win in allowing a hit and striking out eight to improve to 6-4 for the Rams, as she helped her own cause with a two-run single.

Senior Katie Maynard (Chelmsford, Mass.) accounted the Buccaneers’ nightcap tally with an RBI single that followed a Thibeault triple, as sophomore Rachel Johnson (South Chatham, Mass.) added the other hit of the contest for Massachusetts Maritime.  Beaulieu suffered the setback on the mound for the visitors in allowing just three earned runs and fanning a pair in going the distance.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Westfield State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Alison Rollins Field beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Framingham State travels to Fitchburg, Mass. to take on Fitchburg State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference twinbill that begins at 2:00 p.m.
