Sailing Places Fourth In Hurricane Cup, Fifth At Navy Shields Trophy

 Massachusetts Maritime Places Fourth In Hurricane Cup

The Buccaneer offshore sailing team placed fourth overall during competition at the Hurricane Cup at the Beverly Yacht Club over the weekend of September 19-20.

The crew consisting of junior Rob Gallagher (Sandwich, Mass.), sophomores Kody North (Vergennes, Vt.), Bradley Shepherd (Winter Park, Fla.), Jason Pollock (Cataumet, Mass.) and freshman Andrew Thibeault (Cotuit, Mass.) placed seventh in the pursuit race, while sophomore Ryan Lotti (South Yarmouth, Mass.) led the "Dejavu" to a fourth place finish with a crew that consisted by senior Kevin Denien (Rockland, Mass.), junior Jarrett Crosby (Hanover, Mass.), sophomores Christina Colarusso (Middleboro, Mass.), Eric Pattison (Southbury, Conn.) and Stephanie Roberts (Wakefield, R.I.) as well as freshmen Stephen Moore (Andover, Mass.) and Max Yerger (Westerly, R.I.).

 

Buccaneers Sail To Fifth Place Performance At Shields Trophy

Massachusetts Maritime placed fifth in one of the nation's most prestigious races on September 19-20 at the United States Naval Academy's Shields Trophy in Annapolis, Md.

The Buccaneers, who twice won the coveted championship in 1998 and 2003, finished one point out of fourth place and two points out of third place during the competition to top the likes of Coast Guard, St. Mary's, Army, Great Lakes Maritime and Queens College. 

Senior Philip Johnson (Hingham, Mass.), juniors Devin Tetzlaff (Forestdale, Mass.) and Philip Scott (Pocasset, Mass.), sophomores Patrick Morrissey (Quincy, Mass.), Graham Philpot (Laconia, N.H.) and Jeffrey Gawrys (Marblehead, Mass.) as well as freshman Lucas McKean (North Salem, N.Y.) comprised the crew representing Massachusetts Maritime.
