Brady Leads Men's Cross Country To 33rd Place Final Standing At UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime men’s cross country team placed 33rd overall, while the Buccaneer women’s squad recorded a 37th place finish in the team standings at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Tyler Brady (Woburn, Mass.) led the way on the men’s side for Massachusetts Maritime with a time of 28:02 over the 8K layout that was good for 156th place individually, while freshman Anthony DeTommaso (Weymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Brenton Andrews (Hubbardston, Mass.) followed in 197th and 226th place, respectively, with times of 29:04 and 29:56.  Junior Steven Migridichian (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and senior Evan Balderelli (Brimfield, Mass.) rounded out the Buccaneer scoring in 228th and 239th place with respective times of 29:59 and 30:37, as MIT took top team honors with a score of 63 points, while Springfield (104) and WPI (160) followed in the runner-up and third place spots.

On the women’s side, junior Liz Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass.) paced Massachusetts Maritime with a time of 21:52 over the 5K course that was good for 203rd place individually, while senior Sophie Enman (Marblehead, Mass.) and freshman Siobhan O’Malley (Marshfield, Mass.) followed in 271st and 272nd place with times of 26:11 and 26:14.  Senior Corinne Prado (Raynham, Mass.) and junior Lauren Bateman (Newbury, Mass.) rounded out the Buccaneer scoring with times of 28:11 and 29:18 that were good for 280th and 286th place, respectively, as MIT also took top team honors on the women’s side with a near-perfect score of 17 points.  Rowan (141) and Wellesley (192) followed in the second and third place spots in the final team standings as well.

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads head to Chicopee, Mass. next Saturday morning to participate in the Elms Blazer Invitational that begins at 10:30 a.m.
