Brady, DeTommaso Pace Men's Cross Country To 14th Place Finish At Gordon Pop Crowell Invitational

WENHAM, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime cross country teams recorded solid performances at the Gordon Pop Crowell Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as the Buccaneer men placed 14th and the women’s squad placed 23rd among the 30 team entrants in the competition.

Sophomore Tyler Brady (Woburn, Mass.) paced Massachusetts Maritime on the men’s side by placing 47th individually with a time of 27:57.1 over the 8K course, while freshman Anthony DeTommaso (Weymouth, Mass.) followed in 79th place with a time of 28:44.9.  Sophomore Brenton Andrews (Hubbardston, Mass.) was next in 115th place with a time of 29:42.5, while junior Steven Migridichian (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and senior Evan Balderelli (Brimfield, Mass.) rounded out the Buccaneer scoring in 123rd and 124th place, respectively, with times of 29:48.7 and 29:50.7.  Bates took top honors on the men’s side with a score of 61 points to top runner-up Westfield State (70) and third-place Franklin Pierce (105).

On the women’s side, junior Liz Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass.) led the way for Massachusetts Maritime over the 5K layout with a time of 22:10.0 that was good for 168th place individually, while junior Jenelle Piche (Coventry, R.I.) followed in 213th place with a time of 23:20.7.  Freshman Siobhan O’Malley (Marshfield, Mass.) was next in 244th place with a time of 24:17.1, while seniors Sophie Enman (Marblehead, Mass.) and Corinne Prado (Raynham, Mass.) rounded out the Buccaneer scoring in 250th and 251st place, respectively, with times of 24:31.0 and 24:33.9.  Wellesley collected top team honors on the women’s side with a score of 51 points to top runner-up Westfield State (98) and third-place Bates (100).

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads travel to Westfield, Mass. next Saturday morning to compete at the Westfield State James Earley Invitational that begins at 11:00 a.m.
