WENHAM, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime cross country teams recorded solid performances at the Gordon Pop Crowell Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as the Buccaneer men placed 14^th and the women’s squad placed 23^rd among the 30 team entrants in the competition.

Sophomore Tyler Brady (Woburn, Mass.) paced Massachusetts Maritime on the men’s side by placing 47^th individually with a time of 27:57.1 over the 8K course, while freshman Anthony DeTommaso (Weymouth, Mass.) followed in 79^th place with a time of 28:44.9.  Sophomore Brenton Andrews (Hubbardston, Mass.) was next in 115^th place with a time of 29:42.5, while junior Steven Migridichian (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and senior Evan Balderelli (Brimfield, Mass.) rounded out the Buccaneer scoring in 123^rd and 124^th place, respectively, with times of 29:48.7 and 29:50.7.  Bates took top honors on the men’s side with a score of 61 points to top runner-up Westfield State (70) and third-place Franklin Pierce (105).

On the women’s side, junior Liz Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass.) led the way for Massachusetts Maritime over the 5K layout with a time of 22:10.0 that was good for 168^th place individually, while junior Jenelle Piche (Coventry, R.I.) followed in 213^th place with a time of 23:20.7.  Freshman Siobhan O’Malley (Marshfield, Mass.) was next in 244^th place with a time of 24:17.1, while seniors Sophie Enman (Marblehead, Mass.) and Corinne Prado (Raynham, Mass.) rounded out the Buccaneer scoring in 250^th and 251^st place, respectively, with times of 24:31.0 and 24:33.9.  Wellesley collected top team honors on the women’s side with a score of 51 points to top runner-up Westfield State (98) and third-place Bates (100).

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads travel to Westfield, Mass. next Saturday morning to compete at the Westfield State James Earley Invitational that begins at 11:00 a.m.
