FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 2, WENTWORTH 0

BOSTON, Mass. --  Junior Connor McInnis (Duxbury, Mass.) and freshman Chris Beaulieu (Carver, Mass.) each scored goals to back an eight-save effort in net from sophomore Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) that lifted Massachusetts Maritime to a 2-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Wentworth Wednesday evening at Sweeney Field.

McInnis gave the visiting Buccaneers (2-1) the only tally they would need in the 15th minute, as he took a feed from the left side of the net from senior Dillon Jones (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) to notch his first goal of the season.  Beaulieu provided Massachusetts Maritime with an unassisted insurance marker in the 70th minute of play after a scramble in front of the goal area for his second tally in three contests, as Cohen took care of the rest for the visitors, as he made five stops after intermission to record his second shutout triumph of the season.

Junior Kevin Pepin (Fairhaven, Mass.) made five saves in suffering the setback in goal for the host Leopards (0-1-3), who began the season with three straight ties.  Wentworth outshot the Buccaneers by a 24-12 margin overall (8-7 on goal) while holding a 5-2 edge in corner kicks for the contest, as Massachusetts Maritime claimed its third straight shutout win in the series between the two schools dating back to 2012.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Worcester, Mass. on Saturday morning to take on WPI in a non-league outing that begins at 11:00 a.m., while Wentworth travels to Wenham, Mass. on Saturday evening to square off with Gordon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference clash beginning at 7:00 p.m.
