FINAL:              COAST GUARD 1, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

NEW LONDON, Conn. --  Senior John Tarzian’s (Garden City, N.Y.) goal with 9:02 remaining lifted Coast Guard to a 1-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Nitchman Field.

Tarzian converted a pass from fellow senior Jonathan Ray (Huntsville, Ala.) on the game-winner for the host Bears (3-0), and senior Richie Burns (Long Beach, Calif.) made that stand up in goal for Coast Guard, as he made a pair of saves to earn the shutout triumph and avenge a similar setback to the visiting Buccaneers (1-1) suffered last September in Buzzards Bay.

Sophomore Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) made seven saves in suffering the setback in goal for Massachusetts Maritime, as the Bears outshot the Buccaneers by a 19-2 margin (8-2 on goal) while holding a 5-4 edge in corner kicks on the afternoon.

Massachusetts Maritime heads into Boston on Wednesday evening to take on Wentworth in a non-league outing that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Coast Guard hosts Johnson & Wales in a non-league match on Wednesday afternoon at Nitchman Field beginning at 5:00 p.m.
