FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 4, ANNA MARIA 0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Nick Parker (Plymouth, Mass.) netted his first career hat trick to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 4-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Anna Maria Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Parker scored twice in the opening 11:36 of action to stake the host Buccaneers (4-3) to a 2-0 halftime advantage, as his unassisted marker at the 9:41 mark was followed just 1:55 later when he converted a feed from sophomore Thomas McCarthy (Tybee Island, Ga.) on a breakaway.  Parker completed his hat trick in the 51st minute when he deflected a pass from freshman Chris Beaulieu (Carver, Mass.) for his fourth goal of the season, and McCarthy closed out the scoring in the 74th minute of play when he knocked a feed from freshman Alex Thompson (Mansfield, Mass.) for his second tally of the fall that sealed Massachusetts Maritime’s second straight triumph and third in four matches.

Sophomore Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.), the reigning two-time Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, made six saves to record his fourth shutout victory of the season (sixth of his career) for the Buccaneers, while freshman Patrick Thornberg (Wayland, Mass.) made seven stops over the first 78-plus minutes of play in the setback for the visiting Amcats (1-7).  Massachusetts Maritime outshot Anna Maria by a 17-12 margin (11-6 on goal) and took 11 of the 12 corner kicks on the night.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Fitchburg State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Anna Maria heads into Boston on Saturday afternoon to take on Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference outing that begins at Noon.
