Surette, Geisel Post Top Scores As Rifle Drops MAC Decision To Wentworth

FALMOUTH, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime rifle team dropped a Mid-Atlantic Conference dual match decision to Wentworth on Saturday afternoon at the United States Coast Guard Range by a combined score of 4,324 to 4,021.

Senior Michael Surette (Lynn, Mass.) paced the Buccaneers with scores of 539 in smallbore and 551 in air on the day, while fellow senior Kevin Geisel (Gloucester, Mass.) followed with a smallbore score of 538 points and an air score of 546 points.  Freshman Mason Fortier (Somerset, Mass.) notched a combined score of 442 in smallbore and 449 in air for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a score of 501 points in air from freshman Christopher Bouchard (Fall River, Mass.) and 455 points in smallbore from freshman Matthew Cabral (Acushnet, Mass.).

The Buccaneers travel to New London, Conn. next Saturday morning to square off with Coast Guard in a battle for the Admiral’s Cup that Massachusetts Maritime claimed from the Bears last season.
