Surette Records High Individual Scores As Rifle Closes Out 2010 Regular Season Slate With MAC Dual-Match Setback At MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime rifle team closed out its 2010 regular season slate by dropping a Mid-Atlantic Conference dual-match decision to MIT by a combined score of 4300-4023 on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Michael Surette (Lynn, Mass.) posted a combined score of 1,095 points (553 in air, 542 in smallbore) for the Buccaneers, while fellow senior Kevin Geisel (Gloucester, Mass.) recorded 522 points in smallbore and 509 in air competition.  Freshman Christopher Bouchard (Fall River, Mass.) posted a score of 519 points in air, while fellow freshman Steven Johnson (Irvine, Calif.) posted a mark of 465 points in smallbore.  Freshmen Mason Fortier (Somerset, Mass.) and Matthew Cabral (Acushnet, Mass.) rounded out the Massachusetts Maritime scoring by notching 459 points in air and 454 points in smallbore, respectively.

The Buccaneers will await word of an invitation to the 2011 Mid-Atlantic Conference Championships, which will take place next March.
