Rifle Drops Pair Of MAC Decisions To Host VMI, Coast Guard

The Massachusetts Maritime rifle team dropped a pair of Mid-Atlantic Conference decisions to Coast Guard and host Virginia Military Institute over the weekend in Lexington, Va.

Senior Michael Surette (Lynn, Mass.) posted individual scores of 537 in smallbore and 545 in air to lead the way for the Buccaneers, while fellow senior Kevin Geisel (Gloucester, Mass.) recorded scores 523 in smallbore and 528 in air.  Freshman Christopher Bouchard (Fall River, Mass.) followed in air with a score of 493 points, while freshman Mason Fortier (Somerset, Mass.) added scores of 45 0 in air and 418 in smallbore.  Freshman Matthew Cabral (Acushnet, Mass.) recorded the third highest individual score for Massachusetts Maritime in smallbore competition with 447 points.

The Buccaneers posted a combined team score of 3,941 points to finish behind VMI’s total of 4,236 and Coast Guard’s total of 3,963.

Massachusetts Maritime returns to action on Saturday, November 6th by hosting MIT in a Mid-Atlantic Conference match in Falmouth, Mass.
