Go Bucs!

Mass. Maritime (2-1, 1-0 MASCAC) rolled past winless Worcester State (0-4, 0-2) at Clean Harbor Stadium in Buzzards Bay on Saturday behind Richie Phillips. The Onset native earned MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, thanks to 222 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. But it was the continued synchronization between junior quarterback Chris Haggerty and older brother, Shane, a senior wide receiver, that has the Buccaneers offense clicking on all cylinders.

On Saturday, Chris Haggerty connected on 18-of-31 passes for 216 yards and two TDs. Shane made 11 catches for 107 yards and one score. On the season, Haggerty has completed 62-of-102 for 785 yards, with five touchdowns. Of that total, Shane has 26 catches for 276 yards and two scores.

“Definitely, there is a special connection growing up together,” Shane said. “(Chris) understands what I’m going to do. In college football, there’s a lot of ‘read’ routes. We practice that all the time.’’

This season marks the second time the siblings have been paired as starters. The last time came during Shane’s senior year at Cohasset High when Chris, a junior, became the quarterback.

“It’s been awesome. I wish we had another opportunity in high school, but this year we’re trying to make the most of it. Like when teams blitz, that’s the kind of connection the quarterback and the receiver need to have. We have that connection,’’ Chris said.

Ball Hawks

Stonehill retained the Bronze Hawk Trophy for the 12th straight year after junior quarterback Matt Foltz compiled a school-record 448 yards of total offense with five touchdowns in a 45-34 win against host Saint Anselm. Foltz was 21-of-36 for 330 yards, while also rushing seven times for a career-high 118 yards. Freshman Andrew Jamiel of West Yarmouth posted his third consecutive 10-plus catch game (10 for 153 yards, two TDs). The victory gave new coach Eli Gardner his first career win. . . .

Middlebury junior quarterback Jared Lebowitz torched Bowdoin to the tune of 26-of-39 for 369 yards and five TDs in a 40-3 win.

Bentley’s best

Bentley sophomore Drew Mahoney had a terrific effort in the Falcons’ last-play, 27-24 loss to LIU-Post, making 13 catches for 225 yards, including a 50-yard game-tying score with just more than two minutes remaining. It marked the most receiving yards by a Bentley player since Dallas Mall had 227, also against LIU-Post, in 2001. …

Endicott sophomore cornerback Christian Cole had two interceptions to spark a shutout of Nichols. …

Congrats to Western New England cornerback Obi Etuka, who had one interception in a 59-28 rout of Curry to become the Golden Bears’ all-time leader with 16.

Brady in action

Tufts put out the lights on visiting Wesleyan, 17-14, as senior back Chance Brady of Haverhill led the way with a pair of fourth-quarter rushing TDs. Senior receiver Mike Rando of Walpole figured in the mix with four catches for 111 yards and a late 31-yard kickoff return. …

Other NESCAC action saw Colby sophomore linebacker Sebastien Philemon of Hyde Park make a game-high 12 tackles (nine solo) in the Mules’ 9-7 win against Williams. … Amherst sophomore Jack Hickey of Melrose rumbled for 67 yards and found the end zone three times in a 34-0 win over Hamilton. … Bates senior Mark Upton of Winthrop had 11 tackles (10 solo) in the Bobcats’ 38-7 loss to Trinity.
