FINAL:              FRAMINGHAM STATE 21, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 3

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Trevon Offley (Brockton, Mass.) rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown to lead Framingham State to a 21-3 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference football victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

The visiting Rams (6-2, 5-1 MASCAC) took advantage of a short field early in the second quarter to take a 7-0 lead on a four yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Adam Wojenski (Stratford, Conn.) to sophomore Deron Hines (Chelsea, Mass.) with 11:18 remaining in the half, and that score held up until early in the third stanza when an interception by freshman Kenny Kern (Hopkinton, Mass.) set the host Buccaneers (4-4, 3-3 MASCAC) up at Framingham State 36 yard line and led to freshman Sean Kahler’s (Greenville, R.I.) 25-yard field goal.  That four-point margin held up until midway through the final frame when the visitors capitalized on a short punt in extremely windy conditions and extended their lead to 14-3 on Offley’s eight yard run with 7:05 remaining, and senior Jalen Green’s (Brockton, Mass.) two-yard scamper with 3:49 to play iced Framingham State’s ninth straight triumph in the series between the schools.

Offley and Green combined for 167 rushing yards and well over half of the Rams’ 307 yards of total offense on the day, as Wojenski completed 15-of-30 pass attempts for 104 yards in the defensive tussle.  Senior Kenny Pierce (Beverly, Mass.) rushed for a season-high 126 yards on 23 carries in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which collected 242 yards of total offense on the afternoon.  Framingham State held the ball for nearly 37 minutes, including over 19 minutes in the opening half alone, as the visitors scored on three of their four red zone possessions.

Sophomore Brian Donahue (Norfolk, Mass.) led the way defensively with 10 total tackles (nine solo) in the victory for Framingham State, which also received six stops, a pair of break-ups and a fumble recovery from senior Aaron Owens (Springfield, Mass.) as well as an interception from junior Jaquan Harris (Boston, Mass.).  Senior Marshall McCarthy (Duxbury, Mass.) registered a game-high 14 total tackles, including 12 solo stops and three for losses of five yards), in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received six tackles and an interception from Kern on the afternoon.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Plymouth, N.H. next Saturday afternoon to take on Plymouth State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing that kicks off at 1:00 p.m., while Framingham State hosts Bridgewater State in a showdown for first place in the MASCAC standings next Saturday afternoon in Framingham, Mass. that kicks off at Noon.
